Australian bodybuilder that imported over 3 kg of raw steroid powder claimed that he had bought the powder for personal usage

Brenton Dowell, a bodybuilder from Australia, was caught possessing and importing large amounts of anabolic steroids in March 2011. Len Hartnett, the defense attorney for Brenton Dowell, affirmed that the steroid powder had been bought for his client’s personal use. He added that Dowell’s administration of steroids was a response to bullying attacks that he received, when he was an overweight child. So, according to the defense attorney Len Hartnett, Brenton Dowell became addicted to bodybuilding and began to utilize steroids because he was an overweight child.
The judge Graeme Hicks was impressed by words of the defense attorney that presented experiences of Brenton Dowell in his childhood. He added that it could be concluded that Dowell had become obsessed by bodybuilding.
