Trainers of top athletes are arrested in Norway

Norwegian police officers have busted a huge doping ring. More than 10 individuals that were involved in illegal actions were arrested. Six persons were sentenced to jail.
According to news of the newspaper Dagens N?ringsliv (DN), the doping ring was located in Trondheim. DN provided own investigation linked with illegal sale of anabolic steroids in Norway. Police investigated the case.
It is suggested that a secret center is established in Trondheim. It controls illicit sale of doping drugs and money laundering.
The arrested persons were connected with bodybuilding, fitness and health industries in Norway. Several persons were arrested at their homes; others – in business offices, car lots and tram stops.
Investigators suggest that certain individuals are masked by the names of Guru and Karma.
Robert Eilertsen is included in those who have been arrested. He is an operator and editor of a fitness blog. He coached well-known athletes within football, boxing, handball, etc.
It is suspected that Eilertsen and some other persons have provided dangerous performance-enhancing drugs to Norwegian youth during many years.
About 60 police officers were implicated in raids. The raids resulted in 11 arrests.
Since the investigation is not finished yet, police officers announce nothing about their further actions.
Norwegian customs officers and tax authorities were also involved in the investigation.
Many computers and certain documents were seized during raids of homes, business officers, cars, etc.
Eilertsen and Gunnar Strand Jacobsen, another arrested person, have denied their links with doping medications. Jacobsen is the owner of Kaliber Gym in Trondheim, one of the most well-known gyms in Norway. Jacobsen was personal trainer of sportspeople who acquired prizes. He coached athletes who attended to different sports. Jacobsen is claimed to be a high-profile nutrition expert.
The raid was called “Operation Gilde”.
Eilertsen and Jacobsen are charged with sale of doping products and money laundering.

Spain’s police could bust illegal drug ring that masked its activity by legal commercial companies

Spain’s police officers arrested Scott Boote, a person, who was involved in illicit operations connected with a multinational drug ring manufacturing stimulants that enhance sexual desire. Huge amounts of medicines were seized by police. It was estimated the street value of these medications. It was confirmed that it was almost ?3 million. A citizen of the UK, a 72-year-old man from Liverpool, was also questioned. According to reports of police officers, these two men produced eight new sexual stimulants and sold them per internet without providing medical controls. Six other persons were also questioned during this investigation. Investigators noted that the persons who were involved in this illicit drug ring purchased vehicles and another property due to sale of illicit sex products. Several bank accounts were blocked by police. Over 100,000 doses of anabolic steroids, properties and vehicles were seized.
A spokesperson for Spanish police stated that all members of the drug ring lived very luxuriously. They possess many properties and luxury cars. They purchased properties abroad in order to hide the illegal business. Investigators determined that the ring sold sexual drugs for both males and females. The drugs were sold per internet. Persons from around the world could buy the drugs. So, people from the USA, the UK, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. were customers that obtained medicines from this ring. Three factories were established in Costa del Sol. Investigators suppose that those who were manufacturing the preparations didn’t have proper knowledge for this purpose. According to them, the individuals who were involved in the drug ring created also legal business in order to hide the illegal one. They tried to provide legitimate appearance to illicit operations. Their profits were masked by other legal commercial companies.
Boxes that had to be sent to customers were also found by police. Anabolic steroids were also included in the drugs seized by policemen. The arrested persons also possessed packages, labels and leaflets.

Steroid use and British drivers’ behavior

However it is not yet displayed scientifically whether uncontrolled aggressive behavior is a side response of steroids, these drugs are blamed for different criminal actions quite frequently.
Michael Barton, a person from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. The driver of Ford Fiesta was Paul Gard. Barton had passed Paul Gard. But then Michael Barton had to pull back in front of him, since another vehicle was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. So, he had to brake suddenly. Barton became infuriated, stopped his car, broke the wing mirror of Gard’s vehicle and hit Gard in the face. Then Gard’s wife called police. While she was calling, Barton drove off calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old person that has a son of two years old, utilizes steroids to bulk up. Thus, it has been confirmed that these remedies affected his behavior. The defense attorney for this young person affirmed that steroids influenced on temperament of his client, since these drugs enhanced his levels of testosterone.
Earlier Barton was convicted for certain crimes, including domestic violence. Last year this young man pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving carelessly due to his anger following assaults.
The judge Patrick Hooton confirmed that he was not sure that steroids led to improper behavior. But he noticed that it was completely mad to become infuriated and hit a man in the face just because he flashed him. The judge confirmed that Barton’s behavior was too shameful and he said: “you ought to go to prison”.
So, this young man was sentenced to 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also sentenced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of the car.

Steroid users may mask testosterone use by consumption of green tea

Sportspeople become more and more sophisticated in administration of steroids. They study new methods to mask their usage of forbidden medicines. Certain athletes take time to study researchers’ statements that can help them to hide that they dope. Nowadays a way has been found: sportspeople may mask intake of testosterone with the help of green tea.
Testosterone represents a hormone which is produced in body naturally. Thus, it can be difficult for anti-doping agencies to determine that a sportsperson has taken testosterone. T: E ratio testing is ordinarily used by anti-doping organizations. Such tests may manifest unusual ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it is not capable to display difference between testosterone which has been produced in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, gels, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have determined that green tea contains such compounds that are called “catechins”. They have ability to inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme induces joining glucuronic acid to testosterone. If UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the substances that can mask application of testosterone, are contained in green and white tea. Black tea doesn’t contain such compounds.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted several experiments. They conclude that a cup of strong green tea hides usage of testosterone.
So, those athletes that apply testosterone may reduce measures of testosterone excreting in urine by consumption of green or white tea. Green or white tea is able to block excretion of testosterone, enhancing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the discovering by the experts. If this process occurs, it is worthless to subject sportspersons to urine tests. Blood tests should be performed in order to determine that a person has used testosterone.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s expert, claims that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping agencies in order to prevent fooling of urine tests.

Analysis displayed that doping products sent to Wim Vansevenant were just amino acids

The case related to the former Belgian rider Wim Vansevenant changed surprisingly. An analysis illustrated that the doping medicines which were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents written on the labels. This person was cheated by the company where he ordered the drugs.
Last year some packages sent to the former rider by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. According to the labels of  the intercepted  bottles,  they contained the doping product TB-500. It represents a peptide hormone that has ability to induce increasing stamina and promote healing. The Belgian authorities started an investigation. It was thought that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping substances. This sportsperson rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of his riding career he was working with this team.
An analysis of the bottles seized by customs manifested that they contained only amino acids. Wim Vansevenant’s lawyer noted that the case had to be dropped. He explained that since the drug was not connected with doping, the former rider didn’t deserve to be punished.
The prosecutor’s spokesperson Johan Lescrauwaet claimed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the medicine which was written on the label and to the statements of the former sportsperson.
Just amino acids were discovered in the bottles. No any doping medicine. So, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping preparations to other persons.
The hearing of former professional athlete was scheduled to be later.

Role of Bruce Goldberger in case against Roger Clemens

Testimonies of the famous toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably impact essentially on decision of the court in the case against Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This specialist testified on behalf of Roger Clemens. However he was invited in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies didn’t correspond to those that are ordinarily provided by anti-doping organizations. He testified on behalf of the accused sportsperson.
Bruce Goldberger has gained his celebrity due to his participation in various news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t refrain from criticism. He criticized several anti-doping organizations, including the WADA.
The toxicologist expressed criticism for federal prosecutors in the case linked with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” presented by Brian McNamee to prove that Roger Clemens utilized steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal coach of this sportsperson, provided a beer can containing utilized needles and syringes that had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with blood of Roger Clemens. McNamee was keeping the beer can over 6 years. Bruce Goldberger noted that such basis wasn’t reasonable.
Goldberger confirmed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He explained that the accusation couldn’t be proven because the theory of contamination could present.
Thus, Goldberger didn’t support the affirmations of the government. Earlier he also expressed criticism related to evidence applied by several anti-doping agencies.
Several years ago Goldberger testified on behalf of the American cyclist Floyd Landis, when this athlete appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab situated in France found traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were utilized by the lab. Bruce Goldberger expressed similar words and criticism during the appeal related to Floyd Landis.
The toxicologist Bruce Goldberger confirmed during an interview that the WADA used unsuitable ways and violated rights of sportspeople in order to have the success in anti-doping programs.
As for Floyd Landis, he lost his appeal and acknowledged that he had taken steroids, EPO and several other related medications.
No one knows which results will be achieved by Roger Clemens. Will the government prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to taking prohibited drugs? Or will be the results contrary?

New arguments of defense attorney for Roger Clemens

It is known by each baseball fan that Roger Clemens is accused in obstruction of justice. It is affirmed that he has lied before Congress about application of steroids and HGH.
Rusty Hardin pointed out that there was no any difference in physical appearance of Roger Clemens before, during and after his trainings with the trainer Brian McNamee. He confirmed that this factor was a proof that Roger Clemens hadn’t administered steroids and other related products.
Appearance of muscles is usually utilized by federal prosecutors as proof that a person applied steroids or/and other related medicines. But this tendency was not utilized during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. Nobody could confirm that Roger Clemens’ muscles demonstrated that he had applied steroids and HGH. It is a difference between the case against Roger Clemens and that against Barry Bonds.
When it comes to the governmental case against Barry Bonds, feds called numerous persons in the trial who were able to testify that anabolic steroids led to evidential changes in physique of this athlete. They considered that usage of steroids caused increase of muscle size, enhanced size of the head and testicular shrinkage in Barry Bonds.
So, Rusty Hardin presented 4 photos of Roger Clemens. The pictures displayed physical appearance of Roger Clemens, including the period of time when Clemens was working with Brian McNamee. Hardin noticed that the photos displayed that there were no changes in physical appearance that could manifest that he utilized steroids and HGH.
The defense attorney for Roger Clemens confirmed that the photos manifested just the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern noticed that she didn’t observe any changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens experienced neither back acne, nor abnormal development of breast tissue, nor essentially increased muscle mass.
Phil Garner, a former baseball player, also claimed that there were not any essential changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with the trainer Brian McNamee.
The Assistant US Attorney Steve Durham put efforts to discredit the affirmation about lack of changes in Roger Clemens’ physical appearance during the cross-examination of the former baseball player Phil Garner. He claimed that while certain steroids enhanced muscle mass, others didn’t promote gaining muscles. Thus, he confirmed that the pictures could say nothing about steroid use.
Federal prosecutors want to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they claim that changes in physical appearance of Barry Bonds display that he has administered steroids, lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t taken steroids.

Forensic toxicologist: steroids are not responsible for murders

Anders Behring Breivik was charged with murder of 70 persons. He bombed buildings of government in Oslo (Norway). Teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also murdered by this person on Utoya island in July 2011.
This person trained for the murders essentially. He noted that he had used steroid cycles.  Since he utilized steroids, these medications were blamed for the deadly actions by many reporters.
But what did experts confirm? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested affirmations of these reporters. The forensic toxicologist Moerland noted that anabolic steroids didn’t contribute in the massacre. But the specialist admitted that he couldn’t exclude that these drugs could cause aggressiveness in Anders Breivik.
An ECA, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also administered by the killer. In fact, this combination is normally applied by bodybuilders in order to burn fat and stimulate themselves for trainings. It was determined that Anders Breivik has administered great amount of the stack. The amount utilized by him was by 50 % high than it is permitted under European Union’s rules.
The forensic toxicologist Joerge Moerland confirmed that the killer’s behavior was more significantly influenced by the ECA than steroids. He pointed out that ephedrine might lead to desire to be involved in risky activities. Moerland affirmed that the killer’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nevertheless, the specialist Moerland mentioned about limitation of the ECA’ influence. The quantity of caffeine consumed by Breivik was equal to approximately 5 cups of coffee. Thus, the amount was not enough high in order to be demonized for the crimes.
The killer described his application of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other individuals purchasing steroids at Alinshop.
Anders Breivik noted that he didn’t like Dianabol because it could cause water retention. He noticed that Dianabol could add more body mass than users could carry. According to his statements, circa 50 % of the gained mass because of this preparation is fluid retention. The killer decided to take some stacks that were proper for his needs.
The murderer studied effects of various steroids in order to choose those who were suitable for his needs. He confirmed that Testosterone Propionate had certain priorities over Dianabol. He also suggested that stacks of Dianabol with Aromasin or usage of Dianabol followed by administration of Winstrol could benefit substantially.
So, Anders Breivik prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to choose and plan steroid cycles and application of dietary supplements. He also pondered about each aspect connected with attacks and murders.
However some individuals claimed that Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is obvious that he has done it consciously.

Illegal usage of steroids has become widespread in Australia due to motorcycle gangs

According to the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald”, illicit administration of steroids has become widespread in Australia due to outlaw motorcycle gangs. The gangs receive high profit and reduced risks.
Nick Bingham, a detective, has claimed that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation related to application of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when police officers arrest motorcycle gangs for violation of other laws.
According to Nick Bingham, although New South Wales police officials don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when searches for weapons and stimulants are conducted.
The detective Nick Bingham has claimed that they ordinarily seize such quantities of steroids from motorcycle gangs that are just for personal application. Amounts of other drugs which are usually found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
The detective Nick Bingham has claimed that criminals like applying anabolic steroids in order to get threatening muscular bodies. They want to look big and powerful.
However Bingham assures that gangs have steroids just for personal intake, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with his point of view. It reports that motorcycle gangs are involved in smuggling of steroids.
Although gyms are considered to be the chief sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is stated by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that several gyms have close links with motorcycle gangs. The Herald confirms that many seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are connected directly with distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to reports of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been enhanced greatly in comparison with past years.
Over 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and over 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
Numerous seizures were connected with personal usage of steroids imported illegally by bodybuilders.

There is another person that has knowledge about steroid use by Roger Clemens

Federal prosecutors hope that the judge Reggie Walton will permit the former Major League Baseball player David Segui to provide testimony in the trial related to the case of Roger Clemens. This person had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former trainer of Roger Clemens. It is claimed that they have spoken about usage of steroids by the former famous baseball player.
Brain McNamee was called to testify against Roger Clemens because he turned out to be the only person who had direct knowledge about usage of steroids and other related products by Clemens. Furthermore, he kept a beer can with vials, syringes and needles that were allegedly mixed with Roger Clemens’ blood. DNA analysis was conducted in order to determine whether it was Clemens’ blood.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, said that the steroid evidence was thought up by Brian McNamee after the questioning by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors claimed that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he saved certain things as evidence of steroid use by certain players in 2001. It was some years before Roger Clemens’ former trainer became the target of the investigation.
Information provided by David Segui to federal prosecutors differed essentially from that provided to the sportswriter Jim Baumbach. His statements presented to Jim Baumbach were published in an article in 2008. According to that article, David Segui confirmed that he had never spoken about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
David Segui learnt about involvement of Brian McNamee into the case of Roger Clemens just in 2006, when he read an article in the Los Angeles Times.
Segui discussed openly about personal application of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He said that he had been asked many times by players of the Major League Baseball whether he had utilized steroids. This person admitted that he had taken them. But David Segui noted that he had never discussed about intake of steroids with Brian McNamee.
David Segui supported the decision of McNamee to keep evidence about usage of prohibited substances by his clients. According to the former first baseman of the Major League Baseball, it is a correct decision because sometimes innocent persons are blamed but guilty persons are covered. Thus, Brian McNamee could help to support the truth.
However federal prosecutors asked the judge Walton to permit Segui to provide testimony in the trial connected with Roger Clemens, it is unclear yet whether the judge will allow it.

Metabolites of Nandrolone were found in Andre Berto

The Haitian-American professional boxer Andre Berto tested positive for Nandrolone. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) conducted the drug testing.
Andre Berto was scheduled to fight against Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. This boxer agreed to submit to random drug testing before the fight. T: E ratio method and carbon isotope ratio testing were used; they both indicated about application of Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested boxers and caught them using steroids. The first boxer that tested positive this month due to tests conducted by the VADA was Lamont Peterson. He had to meet Amir Khan. It is quite ironically that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. The drug test conducted by the VADA manifested that Peterson had testosterone of exogenous origin certain weeks before the match.
The tests conducted by the VADA impacted on financial position of certain companies obviously. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost great potential profit due to positives of Lamont Peterson. It was estimated by the CEO of the company Richard Schaeffer that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not influence greatly on financial position of certain promotional companies because another boxer will possibly replace Andre Berto and will meet Ortiz.
Andre Berto didn’t explain what had caused his positives. He hired the attorney Howard Jacobs that would represent and defeat him.
Andre Berto confirmed that he had never used steroids. Thus, he claimed that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. The fighter Andre Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport because of hard work and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs was hired by numerous other athletes who turned out to be victims of fake dietary supplements.
It is claimed that since Nandrolone has quite long half life and it is detected easily, it is not widespread among doping sportspersons. But it has been displayed many times that certain food supplements contained the compound nandrolone which led to positives for steroids. But since sometimes not every ingredient is written on the label, sportspeople become victims of contaminated sport supplements.

Chael Sonnen should have normal blood serum levels of testosterone on morning after fight against Anderson Silva

Chael Sonnen, an American fighter, is allowed to apply anabolic steroids. The doctor Timothy Trainor confirmed that this athlete actually suffered from hypogonadism.
What does this disease represent? Hypogonadism is related to insufficient testosterone production. Physicians ordinarily prescribe testosterone replacement therapy in order to treat this disease.
The fighter Chael Sonnen has received a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). So, this mixed martial artist is allowed to utilize steroids for therapeutic needs and fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July 2012.
According to recommendations of Chael Sonnen’s health care provider, he has to apply injections of Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate twice per week. The quantities that are prescribed have not been discussed. But under establishments of the Nevada Athletic Commission, blood serum levels of testosterone in this fighter must remain within normal range on the morning after the match with Silva.
The doctor Trainor confirms that those who compete with TUE must be tested on the morning after the match to find out whether they have taken something right before the match.
The doctor Trainor thinks that testosterone can produce performance-enhancing effects, if it is applied right before the fight. He states that injections must not be introduced in the days before a fight to prevent high levels of testosterone.
But it seems that the NAC doesn’t know that steroids produce effects related to increase of performance, not only if they are administered right before competitions. Usage of steroids influences essentially on performance during trainings before competitions. And the benefits remain even after sportspeople stop administering them.
Chael Sonnen had high testosterone levels at UFC 117. He confirmed that he had tested positive because he had been on TRT.  After his appeal the suspension was reduced to 6 months from one year. But Chael Sonnen didn’t have any TUE that time.

Galabin Boevski was arrested, when he tried to board plane with 8 kg of cocaine

The world champion in weightlifting Galabin Boevski went to nine months in prison because of illicit international drug trade. This sportsperson was arrested in October 2011 at the Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil after he attempted to board the plane with eight kg of cocaine. This weightlifter was headed to Bulgaria. The narcotic was estimated. It could be sold at the price of 500, 000 dollars on the streets in European countries.
Galabin Boevski is a famous athlete in Bulgaria. He is claimed to be one of the most well-known weightlifters in this country.
First he was caught administering steroids in 1995. Undoubtedly, he was suspended.
Then this sportsman was caught using banned preparations in 2004. It was the second time when he violated doping laws. In fact, Boevski didn’t test positive for any banned medicines. But anti-doping officials defined that he didn’t provide own urine. The urine which was provided by this sportsperson belonged to another person. As a result, Galabin Boevski received 8-year suspension. During serving the suspension he was caught trafficking cocaine.
Boevski became celebrated due to his success in weightlifting. This sportsperson won gold medals at certain competitions: at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2001 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya.
At the 2003 World Championships in Vancouver this sportsperson and his teammates from Bulgaria provided urine samples that belonged to another individual. It was determined by anti-doping officials that the three urine samples were produced by one person. These athletes were sentenced to suspensions. Boevski appealed the suspension but it was not successful.
Galabin Boevski broke certain world records at different competitions. He held 3 world records. The best lifts of this sportsman were following: a 162, 5 kg snatch, 196, 5 kg clean and jerk and a 357, 5 kg of two lifts at the 1999 Championships.
It is wondering but this sportsman’s reputation wasn’t spoiled in Bulgaria. He applied his status of celebrity in sports in order to establish a Technogym fitness center in Sofia. The center was named Atama Wellness and Spa.
Furthermore, the Brazilian judge Maria Isabel do Prado affirmed that Galabin Boevski applied also his status of celebrity in sports in order to smuggle cocaine. She also noted that this sportsman used the participation of his daughter in a Brazilian tennis tournament in order to cover his illegal operations linked with smuggling of the narcotic.
The weightlifter Boevski claimed that he would appeal the conviction.

Andy Pettitte can’t remember details of his conversation with Roger Clemens

The desire of the federal government related to the case of Roger Clemens was following: they desired to prove that this person had lied before the Congress about intake of anabolic steroids and HGH. But the government couldn’t do it. It was expected that Andy Pettitte would claim that Roger Clemens had acknowledged that he had used the prohibited medications during a conversation in 1999 or in 2000. But the testimony of Andy Pettitte was shocking for prosecutors. This person said that he couldn’t confirm that Roger Clemens had used steroids and HGH because he was not sure.
Actually, did the testimony of Andy Pettittte shock the prosecutors of Roger Clemens? This man swore for the 2008 Congressional hearings on usage of steroids in the Major League Baseball that Roger Clemens admitted to intake of HGH. But he presented opposite statements at the Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington.
Michael Attanasio, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, asked Andy Pettitte whether he can claim that he is 50-50 that he has understood wrongly Roger Clemens about HGH. Andy Pettitte answered that he is actually 50-50 about this factor.
When the prosecutors heard Pettitte’s answer, they became confused. They stated that Andy Pettitte never said this way, when he was asked several times.
The U. S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton noted that he understood that Andy Pettitte’s answer has been conflicted. In fact, his statement was following: “I don’t know”.
The attorneys for Roger Clemens used the moment of the prosecutors’ confusion. They asked the judge to ignore Andy Pettitte’s testimony because he was 50-50. The attorneys concluded that he probably misunderstood Roger Clemens or he forgot the details of the conversation.
The government has noticed that the jury still allows taking in consideration the affirmation of Andy Pettitte. ASUSA Dunham has confirmed that under federal rules jury is allowed to choose which affirmation to believe. He hopes that the jury will ignore the testimony that doesn’t support the government.
So, the testimony presented by Andy Pettitte and his wife led to problems. Testimonies of Andy’s wife during the first trial led to the declaration of a mistrial by the judge Walton.
Pettitte affirms that he is Roger Clemens’ friend. Clemens must also claim that they are friends after Andy  Pettitte’s last testimony.

Steroids are blamed for shootout

Law enforcement officials came to Cullen Mutrie for a drug investigation. This ma shot 5 police officials at his home. One of them, the Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney,  was killed; four police officers were wounded. The next morning Cullen Mutrie and a woman were found dead.
It is supposed that Mutrie was administering steroids at the time of the shootout. Jane Young, the New Hampshire Associate Attorney General, claimed that toxicology reports were waiting in order to find out whether metabolites of steroids were in the body of this man.
Police claimed that Mutrie had had very muscular appearance. This person worked at Genetix Fitness in Seabrook. He was described as a man that was 6 feet 3 inches tall. He weighed 275 pounds. During a search which took place in July 2010 police officers found anabolic steroids at his home. The policeman Wayne Young found them in a coffee table. He said that he had saw a plastic bag with certain vials. One vial was with powder; others contained solution. The labels indicated that they were steroids.
The vials were analyzed by the New Hampshire State Crime Lab. It was determined that the vials contained such preparations, as Trenbolone Acetate, Sustanon 250, Boldenone Undecylenate and Nandrolone Decanoate.
John Miller, a professor of kinesiology, was asked whether a link between the deadly actions and “roid rage” of anabolic steroids could present. The specialist noticed that it was plausible. But according to him, it is impossible to affirm that there was a direct link between usage of anabolic steroids and the shootout.
John Miller supposed that steroids that were on the black market were provided from legitimate pharmaceutical companies. But he has been mistaken because the majority of steroids which are sold on the black market are manufactured in underground labs. It is even suspected that Mutrie produced steroids.
Since a connection between crimes and intake of steroids is a controversial issue, not only police officers but also media investigates the case connected with Cullen Mutrie.

Alistar Overeem never took steroids knowingly

Alistar Overeem, a UFC fighter, appealed his suspension that was received by him for usage of anabolic steroids in April 2012. But he couldn’t win his appeal against members of NSAC. He forfeited his license for nine months. Then this fighter may come back.
This fighter acknowledged that he had used injectable testosterone which was prescribed him by his physician. Alistar Overeem utilized the strategy which was claimed to be boring. He noticed that he had never applied anabolic steroids or other related medications knowingly. Alistar Overeem tried to make the NSAC think that his injectable administration of steroids was accidental.
David Chenoff, the defense attorney for Alistar Overeem, is experienced in representing well-known sportspeople.
David Chesnoff called the personal physician of Alistar Overeem to testify during the hearing. It was thought that Dr. Molina would testify in defense for his patient. Testimonies of this doctor were very miserable. The doctor Molina presented an explanation for prescriptions of certain preparations that resulted in Overeem’s increased testosterone: epitestosterone ratio.
The treating physician of Alistar Overeem acknowledged that he directed and injected this fighter with a mixture of Toradol and Dexamethasone because he suffered from an injury. Actually, these preparations are administered for anti-inflammatory needs. But application of testosterone for recovery from injuries is not approved by the FDA.
It is supposed that Dr. Molina hasn’t warned this fighter that these medicines contain the anabolic steroid testosterone. But it is obviously that he has never asked about it.
So, testimonies of the health care provider Molina turned out to manifest lack of the evidence related to therapeutic needs for administration of forbidden products by Alistar Overeem. The physician couldn’t provide any reasonable explanation which could justify prescribing of Toradol and Dexamethasone to this sportsman. Testimonies of the doctor Molina worked against Alistar Overeem.
In fact, it became evident that Overeem was a victim of the doctor’s quack.
But it is possible to suppose that this strategy was designed by the defense attorney for this sportsman.
Pat Lundval, a commissioner, was probably impressed by the defense of Alistar Overeem. She even called him a “smart guy”.
The members of the NSAC seemed to believe that Overeem has been actually a great guy but he has surrounded himself with such questionable individuals, as the doctor Moline. They recommended him to look for more qualified professionals in the future.
