Improper medical practice of Australian doctor led him to suspension

Several physician abuse their position, prescribing preparations which don’t correspond to clinical needs of patients. Why does it happen? It is known that several products are claimed to be prescription medications. It means that you can’t get them legally, if you don’t have any prescription from your treating physician. Anabolic steroids belong to such drugs. It is illegal to purchase steroids without a prescription in certain countries. Those who do it may be punished. They may be enforced to pay a fine and/or go to prison. Undoubtedly, a lot of persons are looking for ways to purchase and take these preparations without having legal troubles.
Anabolic steroids are widely abused. Many athletes and bodybuilders take these drugs not for therapeutic purposes but for performance-enhancing effects. If they live in countries where these medications can’t be obtained legally without prescriptions, they find some ways to mask their illicit purchase and administration. Sportspersons, bodybuilders and even ordinary people ask their physicians to prescribe them these products, as if they had therapeutic needs to apply them. Thus, several doctors induce selling anabolic steroids to those who abuse them. Here is a situation.
Peter Grant, an Australian health care provider, recommended steroids to 14 persons during 9 years. Medical state of these individuals didn’t require administration of these products. So, the health care provider was accused of improper practicing medicine. For example, he recommended to a patient taking such products, as Halotestin, Sustanon, Andriol Testocaps, Deca Durabolin, Scitropin and Proviron. But there was no any medical basis to prescribe these drugs to this person. Furthermore, these preparations were recommended him during nine years.
The physician Peter Grant acknowledged that some patients were competing. Thus, he prescribed them steroids. He also admitted to reading scientific literature about anabolic steroids. He confirmed that he knew how steroids worked. So, he supervised the patients who applied anabolic steroids.
Taking these aspects in consideration, it is possible to state that the physician Peter Grant was better known by those who took steroids for increase of performance than by those who had to be cured from several health troubles. Peter Grant confirmed that he knew that steroids were bought by his patients only for personal usage.
When the physician appeared in the court, the judge confirmed that the physician induced selling steroids. The judge added that Peter Grant had to be punished appropriately. Peter Grant was suspended from practicing medicine for 12 months. Furthermore, the judge confirmed that he would be disciplined during the next 2 years.
