It is strange that Nadzeya Ostapchuk has administered steroid metenolone

Nadzeya Ostapchuk, a Belarusian shot putter, won the 2012 Olympic gold medal. But the female athlete was stripped of the award because she failed a drug test. She was asked to provide two samples. The substance metenolone was found in both urine samples.
If you read news related to steroid use in sports, you must know that competitive sportspeople and bodybuilders are usually caught taking other steroids and/or doping products. But when it comes to Nadzeya Ostapchuk, she was caught taking metenolone. It is unusual, according to words of anti-doping officers. What does this banned medication represent? Why don’t athletes ordinarily administer this product for increase of performance?
Metenolone is an anabolic steroid. It possesses slight androgenic properties. It acts like testosterone, enhancing muscle mass and adding strength.
Although this medication has just weak androgenic nature, it leads to development of sex male characteristics in women. Women that use this preparation may face usual effects of virilization: the voice becomes deeper; excessive hair grows on the face and on other parts of the body; etc.
This drug may be used orally or injectionally.
Metenolone (Methenolone) produces amazing effects, when it is applied by athletes during their workouts. It is not applied during competitions. It doesn’t work, if it is used just on the day of a competition.
It is also affirmed that it is easy to detect those who take this steroid.
Unwanted reactions of Metenolone (Methenolone) depend on doses which are applied. They are following: water retention, hypercalcaemia, bone growth, hirsutism, acne, male-pattern baldness, troubles linked with menstrual cycles, enhanced libido, etc.
Thus, if you see a female athlete that has deep voice and hirsutism, you may accuse her of steroid use. In fact, it is wrong because these troubles may occur also in those women that don’t administer any steroids. But sometimes these effects demonstrate that certain women use medicines that possess androgenic properties.
